Tap your software, or pick it from the full list.
Using Open Dental, Dentrix Ascend, or Denticon? Choose that name above. There is no Agent to install and you will not need a Location ID. If your welcome email shows an API code, pick Open Dental.
Open Dental
Open Dental connects through its built-in API, so there is nothing to install. You just copy the API code from your welcome email into Open Dental.
Find the “Welcome to CareNotes Premium” email we sent you. It contains your API code, the red box below. Keep this email open; you will paste this code into Open Dental in Step 4.
Can’t find the email? Check your spam folder, or contact us and we will resend your API code.
In Open Dental, click Setup → Advanced Setup → API.
At the bottom-left of the API Setup window, click Add Key. Also tick the Enabled box at the top.
The developer will show as CareNotes. In the Enter API key box, paste the API code from your welcome email (Step 1), click OK, then click Save.

Open the CareNotes app and your notes will flow straight into your Open Dental patient charts.
Open the CareNotes AppDentrix Ascend
There is nothing to install or set up in Dentrix Ascend. We link it securely on our end. Just send us your practice details from the CareNotes app and we take care of the rest.
Open the CareNotes app and fill in the short practice info form.
Submit it. That sends us everything we need to connect.
We build the link on our side and email you when it is live.
Denticon
We are putting the finishing touches on the Denticon connection. Like Open Dental and Dentrix Ascend, there will be no Agent to install. Leave us your info and we will email you the moment it is ready.
CareNotes Agent

Eight short steps on a Windows PC that stays online. Clinical notes write back to the Curve chart, along with today’s schedule and morning huddle.
Curve Dental note writeback is available. In the Agent, set Management System to CurveHero and Version to Web, then enter the Curve login in step 7.
Create a Curve user just for this connection before you start. Set that user’s email to curvemfa+LocationID@gmail.com, using the Location ID from your welcome email, so Curve can send sign-in codes to the integration.

Windows may show a blue “Windows protected your PC” box. Click More info → Run anyway. It is safe; this is normal for new installers.
Double-click the downloaded file. Let it finish extracting, then click Close.
The app opens and checks for updates. If you see “New Update Available”, click Install Now and wait a moment.
Open your “Welcome to CareNotes Premium” email. Inside the red box you will find two things you need next:

Keep this email open in another window so you can copy and paste the codes in the next step. Didn’t get the email? Contact us and we will resend it.
Type (or paste) your Location ID and API Key from the email, then click Sign In. Check Remember me so you won’t have to enter them again.
This one-time HIPAA form protects your practice. Fill in your practice details and signee info, add your signature, check the box, then click Submit.
In Management System, pick your software from the list. Then choose your Version. The Data Path usually fills in automatically.
In Management System, pick CurveHero. Set Version to Web. Then fill in the Curve login fields.
Data Path empty? Click the little folder icon to browse, or message us and we will find it with you in seconds.
https://yourpractice.curvehero.com/That Curve user’s email must be curvemfa+LocationID@gmail.com. Replace LocationID with the Location ID from your Welcome to CareNotes Premium email. Use this address so Curve can send sign-in codes to the integration. Do not use a personal email.
Click Save. Up top, Service Status should show a green ● Running. That’s it, CareNotes is now connected.
Want to sync right away? Click Perform Sync. By default it syncs automatically during work hours.
For Curve, Save establishes the connection and starts syncing this location. Notes you finish in CareNotes write back to the Curve chart.
Your CareNotes Agent is connected to your software. Open the CareNotes app on your phone and your notes will flow straight into the chart.

Double-check for extra spaces. Copy and paste directly from your welcome email rather than typing. The API Key always starts with crm_. Still stuck? Contact us.
Use the folder icon next to the Data Path box to browse to where your software stores its database. If you are unsure, reach out and we will locate it with you.
Paste the address you use to open Curve, including https:// and the trailing slash. It looks like https://yourpractice.curvehero.com/. Use your practice name in place of yourpractice.
Create a new Curve user only for CareNotes. Set the email to curvemfa+LocationID@gmail.com, replacing LocationID with the Location ID from your welcome email. Type that user’s Curve username and password into the Agent. Do not use a staff member’s personal login.
Click Start next to Service Status, then Save again. If it still won’t start, restart the computer and reopen the CareNotes Agent.
No. Just once, on the computer or server that hosts your software database. Everyone in the practice benefits from that single install.
Once, on the practice server or on a Windows PC that stays online. Curve Dental is in the cloud, so the Agent does not have to sit on a computer that holds a local database. Everyone in the practice uses that one install.
