What you can capture

CareNotes voice perio charting is built for the findings you already say out loud at the chair. You can speak them or tap them. The supported fields are probing depths (pockets), bleeding on probing, recession, mobility, and furcation. This is documentation of what you record during the visit — not a clinical protocol and not a substitute for your exam.

How a charting visit works

Tap record on iPhone or start from Apple Watch before you walk in. Talk normally while you probe. Call pocket depths, BOP, recession, mobility, and furcation as you always would — or tap the same fields. After the visit, a chart-ready note is waiting to review and sign. If you forgot to hit record, you can talk to CareNotes afterward like a scribe. Edits can be spoken, not typed.

Where the perio chart goes

Direct structured perio upload is live on Open Dental and Dentrix Ascend. Those stacks can receive the structured perio data, not only a paragraph in the progress note. On other practice management systems — including Dentrix, Eaglesoft, AbelDent, SoftDent, PracticeWorks, Curve, and 27+ more — perio still rides inside the note. Direct structured upload for those stacks is in progress. That is not the same as unsupported: the findings still go into the chart with the note, on free via paste or on Premium via upload.
